ESPN Game Recap – Cleveland Indians vs. Chicago White Sox

Cliff Lee wrapped up the 2008 American League Cy Young tonight by shutting out Chicago 5-0.  It was Lee’s 20th win of the season and lowered his league-low ERA to 2.32.  His record is an amazing 20-2.  Yes, KRod is on pace for 93 saves and I know Roy Halladay may well pitch complete games every two days the rest of the year. It won’t matter.  Nothing he or Halladay or Mussina can do the rest of the year will matter.  The award is Cliff Lee’s.

Our previous discussion on who might win the Cy Young (and our hopes for a dark horse Mussina candidacy) are all but over.   Congrats to Cliff Lee on an amazing year.  The award will be very well deserved.
