Twitter’s search function is awesome. It allows you to see what thousands of people around the world are saying about a specific person at any given time. About once every other day I type in “Mussina” and see what the Twitterverse is saying about our favorite player. Here are some highlights from the past two weeks:

From the above article’s lead: “We can put on the uniform, and we can play in the Stadium, but we’re not the New York Yankees unless Derek Jeter is playing shortstop.”—Mike Mussina, May 2003. Read the whole thing.

I saw a few people on Twitter making similar comparisons. Is taken yet?

Someone should write a column about that.

Thanks Jonah!

I think Mussina made the right choice. The Indians were the AL Wild Card in 2001, where they lost in the division series, but didn’t make the playoffs between 2002 and 2006 (2001-’06 was the length of Mussina’s first Yankee contract). The Indians had two winning seasons between ’01 and ’06. The Yankees made the playoffs every one of those seasons, including two World Series trips.

Is this a good or bad statistic? It’s good company for sure.

I’d like to highlight the next post because it includes a link to a wonderful article about Mike Mussina. I can’t recommend it enough.

Please follow us on Twitter and tweet us any interesting Mussina tidbits, articles, or clips you come across.
